WordPress Wednesday: WordPress Contact form Solutions

In order to help your blog grow, people need to be able contact you quickly and easily. When I first started out, I had a simple contact form that quickly got deluged with Spammers submitting bogus information, filling up my e-mail box.
I discovered the WordPress Plugin Secure Contact and used that for the last year. The problem is that I never really tested the thing myself, I just assumed it worked. Well, apparently, much to the annoyance of people trying to contact me, the Secure Contact form simply does not work well.
The reason is the image verification that is built in. You could have everything exactly right when entering the image text, but it will take repeated tries to get the form to actually go through. I only knew it wasn’t working when frustrated users told me that it took them 10+ times to submit the form before it actually went through. I also saw repeated failure url’s in Statpress.
So, what is another easy solution for having a contact form on a website that won’t get filled with Spam? I’ve been testing out Wufoo form builder and I love it.
It takes away the need to have a specific WordPress plugin and has awesome spam fighting power. It’s really easy to build a form with Wufoo and best of all, it’s free. Most blogs only get a couple contact form submissions a month so this free service is perfect.
As your blog grows, you can pay for more contact form submissions and the prices are pretty reasonable. The user interface is easy to build and it has fantastic tracking features.
All you need to do is grab the source code for your custom form and paste it into a WordPress page. This sites uses the form, check it out if you’re interested.
