These people obviously got bad advice. @ John - My wife an I acted as general contractors when we built our current home, 2 years ago. I admit I wondered the same thing. Well, in my opinion the reason is a matter of material and logistics. By that I mean the material necessary to make the show possible are on site and the contractors are willing to complete their task in a timely fashion so that the next contractor can continue the process, the jobs are correctly manned, and the weather is not an inhibitor on the show. There were numerous occassion where a contracts came to a job with two or three people worked for a day and were gone for a week. All these led to delays.
